I finished season 1 of Yellowjackets last night and watched the little Blu-Ray extra where all the cast are talking about their favorite scenes they filmed, and Jasmin Savoy-Brown said her favorite scene was Taissa's hair-cutting scene because Taissa took a lot of pride in her femininity and blackness through her hair, and this was represented in the fact that her character was continuing to tie her hair up in silk scarves at night for months after the crash. But then I realized that the cloths covering up Van's face were surprisingly long and brightly colored compared to a lot of the scraps of cloth being used by the girls around the camp.

After cutting off all her own hair, Taissa used her scarves to cover up Van's scars while they were healing.

sorry we abolished your boyfriend. yeah the abolition of the family and disintegration of the couple form kind of rendered him redundant at the end. he's not really sure what the term "boyfriend" is supposed to meaningfully describe anymore
